Greece

Born in the South East of Europe is a country called Greece, which has an astonishing history & culture. The name Greece comes from the Greek word ‘Grecia’ meaning land of the Greeks. The country is blessed with more than 1000 islands and has the longest coastline in the whole of Mediterranean Sea Basin. It shares borders with four countries,  Albania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Turkiye.

In ancient times, the Greeks were known as Hellenes. They spoke Greek and lived on the Mediterranean coast. The first city founded by the Greeks was Miletus. The most famous Greek philosopher was Socrates. The Greeks were advanced civilization, they invented democracy, philosophy, drama, medicine, science, mathematics, architecture, sculpture, painting, and writing.

From its stunning beaches to its historic sites, Greece has something for everyone.  Many Greek cities were founded thousands of years ago and still retain much of their original architecture.
